  • Profhilo is an injectable treatment consisting of a high concentration of thermally-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. This is injected into the dermis of the skin to treat skin texture irregularities, crepeyness and fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the dermis of the skin, so this treatment is considered a 'bio-revitaliser'.

  • Profhilo is formulated with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the skin, which acts as a 'humectant', hydrating and nourishing the skin, giving it a dewy and glowing appearance. Profhilo is injected into the dermis of the skin, where it stimulates a reaction in the skin's fibroblast cells to induce the production of new collagen and elastin for 3-6 months after the treatment series, a process known as neocollagenesis. This unique injectable has been shown to stimulating four different types of collagen and elastin, which in turn improves dermal thickness and bounce, as well as improving the skin's elasticity. Profhilo results in an overall brighter and smoother appearance and over time improves the quality of skin, and also gently lifts treated areas over time. Profhilo also hydrates the skin by it's very nature, giving deep hydration. The treatment comprises of 2-3 sessions where injections of Profhilo are performed, which creates little 'bumps' on the skin surface, from which the product spreads across the treated area in the dermis of the skin, treating the entire area surrounding the injections. These 'bumps' last for about 12 hours after the treatment and can be gently massaged from a few hours after the injection time.

  • Profhilo is a unique treatment as it has a dual phase action - initially it gives deep skin hydration and glow, smoothing out of fine lines and wrinkles due to it's ultra high concentration of hyaluronic acid. The second, longer term phase of treatment (3-6 months) is dermal remodelling, due to stimulation of collagen and elastin production by dermal fibroblast cells. This results in a thickened, healthier dermis of the skin, with longer term reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, and a healthier, more hydrated appearance. Profhilo spreads within the dermis layer of the skin to treat the whole face (or neck, or indeed any other area in the body), giving an overall refreshed appearance and improved skin quality and texture.

  • Profhilo can be used on any part of the body but most commonly used on the face and neck. Profhilo Body can be used on any body areas to treat skin laxity and improve the quality and thickness of the dermis of the skin.

  • Profhilo can be used in conjunction with many other treatments in clinic including our facials and injectables. Morpheus8 is commonly performed with Profhilo, either together in one session or in separate sessions. Both treatments stimulate the dermis to produce collagen and improve skin elastcity, so have synergistic benefits.

For less invasive treatments to have alongside Profhilo, opt for our Mesotite Facial, Mesotherapy or Forma treatments which further support skin tightening and the production of collagen.

  • Downtime is minimal with Profhilo. Little 'bumps' appear at the injection points but these usually settle within 6-12 hours and this is a normal and expected appearance. They tend to be more prominent in areas where the skin is thinner, for example on the neck. These 'bumps' can be massaged to encourage them to settle. With any injectables there is always a chance of bruising and/or swelling which may occur within a few hours of the treatment, most often resolving within 24-48 hours. Antihistamines can be taken to reduce the risk of swelling, and sleeping propped up on your back on the night of treatment will help reduce this risk further. To reduce the risk of bruising we suggest that you avoid omega-3 fatty acid supplements, blood thinners and alcohol for 48 hours prior to your injectable treatments.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Yes - we frequently do treatments where Profhilo is combined with other injectables, such as Dermal fillers. We generally advise against combining Profhilo with IPL treatments as there is an increased risk of swelling.

  • The advised treatment schedule is 2-3 treatments, once per month, then repeat this every 6-9 months. More sessions can be done without risk, indeed we often see patients once every three months as an alternative to the conventional treatment schedule.

  • In our clinic, we prefer to have a bespoke approach with all injectables, tailoring this to the individual's requirements and clinical appearances. As such we often do a more targeted approach with injections, which we feel gives better results - particularly if there is a problematic area. All of our injectors are highly trained and have extensive experience so will tailor a treatment plan to your unique requirements.

  • Yes - we regularly inject the forehead with Profhilo. This does not correspond to the BAP points, however, we find this improves outcomes for the overall treatment if there are lines and wrinkles in this area that individual patients wish to be treated.

  • We usually advise that makeup should be avoided for a 24 hours post-treatment, however, mineral based makeup such as Oxygenetix may be used directly after the procedure.

  • Yes - although this may cause an increased risk of swelling so we'd advise avoiding strenuous exercise directly after the treatment.
